Light effects in a barren winter forest recreated from memory-
The deep cobalt blue making up the shadow side of the trees looks exaggerated at first glance but if you squint your eyes this painting looks like a photograph.
My landscape studies seem very abstract up close but from a distance everything falls into place. I’m also using a very restricted palate in the painting above. There are just three shades of gray(including the background tone) and two shades of yellow.
